Politics and Democracy

This article partly examines the relationship of Turkish democracy and the modernization of the Ottoman Empire. The article also deals with the constitutional period and political parties, particularly the Imperial Edict of Gülhane 1839, the Tanzimat period, and the First Constitutional period of 1876 to 1878 and the Second Constitutional period that began with the revolution of 1908, and from Empire to Republic 1909-1923, the Turkey of Atatürk and Turkey after Atatürk.
