Melek Erdem
According to general lexicology, the structure of kinship terminology, which is one of the language’s basic vocabulary, indicate the development of a language which could specify, formally features of biological relatedness. The Turkish language brings to light these relations very well. Today, this term is studied not only in sociology and anthropology, but also in cultural linguistics which is based on Boasian linguistics, ethnosemantics, and the ethnography of speaking. This paper analyses the kinship terminology in Türkmen Turkish on the base of these approaches.
