On the Characteristics of the Ratio of Participation in the General Elections in Türkiye

The purpose of this study is to examine the significance of the ratio of participation in the General MP elections between 1950-1999 in Türkiye. The voting behaviour of countries have different significance in relation to their socio-cultural and economic structures. As in many countries of the world, there are various measures taken in Türkiye to increase the participation of voters in elections. There are various approaches to the fact of the increase in participation ranging from the theory asserting the increasing power of representation to the theory claiming the increase in participation as a sign of serious crisis. This paper analyses the ratio of participation in the General Elections held in Türkiye in the light of these theories.
