The Linguistic Situation of the Turks in South-eastern Siberia

The Saha, Tuva, Hakas, Şor and Altay Türks had been labelled as illiterate peoples before they had joined the USSR. However, recent studies have proved that this definition was incorrect. The article deals with the studies in this field and the results obtained from the research and the general linguistic policies of the USSR.
