The Book of Dede Korkut is a Turkish literary classic both in relation to the topics it deals with as well as language and the style it employs. This article examines the cultural oppression carried out in the USSR by the communist regime and the struggle in keeping Turkish culture alive, and the role of The Book of Dede Korkut.
